How did all of this mess start? It all started when I went to try again a service called carbonite., a back up solution that will back up your stuff and have it basically in the cloud and then do an incremental back up of your stuff. the concept is good, but the mac program needs a lot of work. The back up pref pain for manually selecting items is not usable! I did a youtube video on this some days ago and had a chat with carbonite customer support. They were helpful, but still did not get the fact that this was not even remotely usable with voice over. Here is a link to the youtube video.

intro

i'm here this time to talk about something that is going on and hopefully will end soon. No this has nothing to do with computers..

the story.

starting in about october i met with my adviser at the university of las vegas nevada (unlv) so we could discuss classes. She said i needed to get reaccepted in to the school and what forms to fill out. I did so and thought everything was good. We had a meeting december second of 2011 set up i ran in to a ride situation and said i could not show up. Fine with her. We would stay in touch. "Great. I'll still have the stuff i need to register," i thought to myself. Alas that's not true.

Forward to near christmas when she finely emails me some classes after i asked her to give me the complete list i need for the 2 and a half years. She only gives me about 12 credits of stuff. One of which i find out later is not scheduled yet in the catalog. January comes around and i'm emailing every day and calling every few hours to scramble to get that class list. No go. She promises to get me the class list but she forgot to check off what i took. And the admin gave me the wrong directions to the degree audit. I had to resort to call the admitions department and a fellow student had to help me.

exit.

i don't like the new system that unlv has. They have 1 adviser with the supposed knowledge you to get you graduated in the appropriate time but i have yet to believe my adviser has the knowledge . She never answers her phone, is slow at answering emails and cannot follow simple directions. I'm hoping that she will be more cooperative at the end of this semester. Any comments on this blog post are more then welcome.

intro:

For a while now i’ve been having issues with lion mail wherein I create some folders and they appear in the wrong order. I googled and asked on the apple support forums. All to no avail. I finally one day tried recreating my account also to no avail. I also tried reseting the index envelope but that was a no go. I reinstalled os10 lion (for a different issue), but I was hoping it would fix this particular problem. Then a few weeks ago, I stumbled on a solution that might work for someone else having trouble.

Let me go back a bit. I use gmail set to imap. And that was simple to set up in mail. I create the rules and folders server side so every device I check mail on will have their mail sorted correctly. The problem cane when I would create a folder and it would show up correctly in order on gmail’s side but at the bottom of the list on lion mail. I struggled for months to get the solution i’m about to try my best and share.

the solution:

In frustration I decided to go to /users/username/library/mail/v2. And delete the following folders after shutting mail down:

Imap-.Com

mailboxes

maildata

I then emptied the trash and restarted mail, recreated my account and as of this writing my folders are in order, for now anyway.

exit:

So, if you have this perplexing problem, try it out. You never know. It just might work. If not, write to the apple support communities. They are quite good at helping where help is needed.
